Use Profile presets in the N900 with Tweakr

A new fea­ture in Tweakr allows you to extend the sound Pro­files to more than just Gen­eral and Silent.

Tweakr intro­duces the con­cept of Pro­file pre­set. Pre­sets are Pro­file set­tings which can be saved, deleted and assigned to the Gen­eral pro­file. This allows you to prac­ti­cally use as many pro­files as you want on the N900.

The nor­mal use-case is to first tune the Gen­eral pro­file for the new pre­set you want to save, then open Tweakr and choose the Save cur­rent Gen­eral pro­file to new pre­set but­ton. This will allow you to save the set­tings of the Gen­eral pro­file with a new name.

After that, you will find a new but­ton in your Sta­tus Menu, as shown in the fol­low­ing screenshot:

You can now select what­ever pre­set you have cre­ated before, and its set­tings will be applied to the Gen­eral profile.

    Caro Sal­va­tore,

    Com­pli­menti per la tua appli­cazione, purtroppo non riesco ad instal­larla sul Nokia N900.
    Tramite il menu Cat­a­loghi provo ad instal­lare da file ma il file deb non viene riconosci­uto come compatibile.

    Cia, bel­lis­sima la tua appli­cazione molto utile.
    Volevo solo farti notare che sul nuovo firmware mi ha brick­ato il cell quando ho impostato la “Snap Grid” su “NO”. Il desk­top si è incasi­nato di brutto e il cell con­tin­u­ava a riavviarsi ciclicamente.

    I noticed that cur­rently pro­file names can­not include spaces. It would be nice if they could… ;)

    Sorry far the late reply, every­body. Let me give some answers:

    @Ottorino: l’applicazione adesso è in extras-devel, quindi non devi più instal­lare il file a mano;

    @bAdBoYz: I’m afraid that goes way beyond Tweakr, and I doubt the N900 can be hacked to that extent :)

    @Chris: è aggius­tato nell’ultima ver­sione… hildon-home faceva una bella divi­sione per zero in quel caso :)

    @Vladimir: that’s a lim­i­ta­tion of gconf, and I’m too lazy to start escap­ing spaces :) At least now I’ve fixed it so that it gives you an error mes­sage when you try to save with a name that has spaces.
